Comprising a very finely painted and silver gilt and enamel icon of Christ. Here, delivering a blessing and holding an open book of Gospels to John 13:34: "A New Commandment I give unto thee?" Overlaid with an exceptional multi-piece silver gilt, reppouse, chased, enameled oklad. The borders are banded with cloisonne enameled flower heads and cross-form corner plaques. The halo is in champleve and cloisonné enameled, and the Gospel text is in champleve enamel. Hallmarked Moscow, dated 1876, and Cyrillic makers mark P.OVCHINNIKOV beneath the Imperial Warrant—Verso in original velvet covering.
